A 20-year-old Kawerau man has been arrested and will be appearing at Whakatane District Court on Monday morning, charged with murder and an unrelated assault.

In a statement yesterday police said emergency services were called to an address on Hall Street, Kawerau around 12:41pm Saturday where a woman was located with critical injuries and died a short time later.
Police are unable to name the victim until her extended family have been advised of her death.
