An investigation is under way into the death of a 65-year-old woman in her Auckland home.

Police say a family member went to her house in Onehunga after failing to reach her by phone and found her body.
The death is being treated as unexplained and a large team of detectives is working on the case.
The scene examination is expected to take several days.
Police say there is no risk to public safety.
