A motorcyclist reported missing at Aorangi Mt Cook has been found dead.
United States national Lucas Sven Halgren, 24, went missing on 27 December.
The police said he was thought to have been in a crash. No other vehicles were involved.
Yesterday afternoon, police said Mr Halgren had been found on Tasman Valley Road in the Mt Cook National Park.
It wasn't until this morning that they said Mr Halgren was found dead.
It was the fifth motorcycle-related death this holiday season and the 13th death on the roads.
Police today released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle crash on Tuesday on the Waipahi Highway, near Gore.
He was 46-year-old Jason Lilly, of Christchurch.
The road toll is one higher than than the whole of last year's holiday period.
The holiday road toll period ends at 8am on 4 January.
Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle near Ninety Mile Beach in the Far North yesterday is now in a stable condition.
The boy was flown to Auckland's Starship Hospital with critical injuries after the accident on Te Paki Stream Road, but his condition had improved.
The Ministry for Primary Industries confirmed one of its vehicles was involved in the accident and it was offering support to the fisheries officer.
