Fiji opposition parliamentarian, Mosese Bulitavu, and a Suva businessman, Jagath Karunaratne, have been in the Suva Magistrates Court for making allegedly seditious comments.
FBC News says the two are alleged to have painted words in different places between Nausori and Suva with the intention of causing hatred for the government.
The alleged incidents occurred in 2011 when Fiji was ruled by a military-backed regime which had taken power by force 2006.
The Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili has deferred a ruling after submissions from the state which the defence lawyers want to look through.
A ruling is expected in late January.
