Falling passenger numbers have led Air New Zealand to dump its direct weekly flight from Auckland to Norfolk Island.

The flights are to end in May next year.
An Air New Zealand official, Richard Thompson, says the route is not commercially sustainable.
He said Air New Zealand will still be flying up to five times a week from Australia to Norfolk.
Once a tourist mecca, Norfolk Island, has suffered a significant decline in recent years.
