Three killed in crashes this weekend

Three people have been killed in crashes this weekend, in Auckland, north of Auckland, and Canterbury.

This morning police said one person had died after a crash at Te Arai, near Mangawhai, north of Auckland.

Ocean View Road has been closed while emergency services work at the scene.

In a statement, police said only one vehicle was involved.

Diversions are in place, but motorists should avoid the area.

In Auckland a cyclist has died after being hit by a truck on Manukau Road in Royal Oak late yesterday morning.

Another person was killed in a crash on the outskirts of Ashburton in Canterbury yesterday afternoon.

The crash happened on Beach Road East in Elgin.
