Pacific telecommunications leaders have approved final planning for the installation of the Manatua - One Polynesia submarine cable.
This comes 12 months after the decision to install the cable that is billed as transforming computer speeds, internet capacity and affordability in French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Samoa, and Niue.
The cable will land in six places: Tahiti and Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the Cooks, Apia in Samoa and Niue.
It will be the first fibre connectiion for Niue and the Cook Islands.
Earlier this week, the Cooks Islands government and its local partner, Avarua Cable, held a ground breaking ceremony for the cable's Rarotonga landing station.
