Ngai Tahu has confirmed that former head of news and production at Maori Television, Julian Wilcox, is to take charge of its media team.
The iwi runanga said Mr Wilcox would become the group general manager of communications and is expected to start either shortly before Christmas or in the new year.
The iwi group's chief executive, Arihia Bennett, said Ngai Tahu is pleased to be able to appoint Mr Wilcox to the pivotal role and his extensive involvement in Maori television and radio will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the job.
Ms Bennett said they look forward to welcoming him to Te Waipounamu in the near future.
Mr Wilcox resigned from Maori TV last week, and his last day will be in December.
Maori TV has been going through a restructure involving the loss of two senior jobs.
