Worksafe New Zealand says the two quad bike deaths this week are a tragic reminder that the machines can be deadly.
A 14-year-old boy died on a farm near Kaikohe this morning when the quad bike he was riding rolled, and pinned him in a ditch, while a Wairarapa farmer died in a crash on Tuesday.
Worksafe's manager Francois Barton says quads are a brilliant farm tool, but they also take a terrible toll in the rural community.
Worksafe figures show up to 7 people a year - 5 in 2014 - die in quad bike accidents, and more than 800 are injured.
