There are 7627 new community cases of Covid-19 to report today, the Ministry of Health says.
In a statement, the ministry said there were 827 people in hospital with the virus, including 24 in intensive care.
It also said there were now a total of 1455 deaths confirmed as attributable to Covid-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor.
The seven-day rolling average of the increase in deaths attributable to Covid-19 is now 18.
There were also 312 new Covid-19 cases at the border.
On Wednesday, there were 8730 new cases of Covid-19 and 808 hospitalisations.
In his last media stand-up as Director-General of Health, Dr Ashley Bloomfield said yesterday case rates were trending downward across all four main regions in New Zealand. This was supported by wastewater results and test positivity for people being admitted to hospital.
