The death of former Mongrel Mob boss Chad Puru was not suspicious, police say.
Puru, 55, was found dead on Dalberg Road in Balcairn on 3 January.
The New Zealand Herald reported at the time that his body was found in a burnt out car.
Police said at the time his death was unexplained.
His death will be referred to the Coroner, who will rule on the cause of death in due course, police said in a statement today.
