Police have identified a body found in Northland as missing woman Bridget Simmonds.
The 43-year-old mother of two was last seen in Whangārei in February last year when her mother dropped her off at a Countdown supermarket.
A body was found on a rural property in Parakao last week, and police today say they have formally identified it as Simmonds.
In a release, Detective Senior Sergeant John Clayton said police are still working to find out what happened to Simmonds.
"Police are aware there are a number of individuals that know the circumstances around Bridget's death and hold information that could be vital to the investigation.
"We urge these people to do the right thing and contact Police," he says.
Police urged anyone with information to call the investigation team on 09 430 4555.
Police said no further charges have been laid at this stage, but further charges are likely.
